2021-07-22Move malloc hooks into a compat DSOSiddhesh Poyarekar1-2/+4
Remove all malloc hook uses from core malloc functions and move it into a new library libc_malloc_debug.so. With this, the hooks now no longer have any effect on the core library. libc_malloc_debug.so is a malloc interposer that needs to be preloaded to get hooks functionality back so that the debugging features that depend on the hooks, i.e. malloc-check, mcheck and mtrace work again. Without the preloaded DSO these debugging features will be nops. These features will be ported away from hooks in subsequent patches. Similarly, legacy applications that need hooks functionality need to preload libc_malloc_debug.so. The symbols exported by libc_malloc_debug.so are maintained at exactly the same version as libc.so. Finally, static binaries will no longer be able to use malloc debugging features since they cannot preload the debugging DSO. 2021-06-28Linux: Cleanups after librt moveFlorian Weimer1-6/+0
librt.so is no longer installed for PTHREAD_IN_LIBC, and tests are not linked against it. $(librt) is introduced globally for shared tests that need to be linked for both PTHREAD_IN_LIBC and !PTHREAD_IN_LIBC. 2021-06-22linux: Only use 64-bit syscall if required for selectAdhemerval Zanella1-0/+2
For !__ASSUME_TIME64_SYSCALLS there is no need to issue a 64-bit syscall if the provided timeout fits in a 32-bit one. The 64-bit usage should be rare since the timeout is a relative one. This also avoids the need to use supports_time64() (which breaks the usage case of live migration like CRIU or similar). It also fixes an issue on 32-bit select call for !__ASSUME_PSELECT (microblase with older kernels only) where the expected timeout is a 'struct timeval' instead of 'struct timespec'. Checked on i686-linux-gnu on a 4.15 kernel and on a 5.11 kernel (with and without --enable-kernel=5.1) and on x86_64-linux-gnu. Reviewed-by: Lukasz Majewski <lukma@denx.de>

It is enabled through a new rule, tests-y2038, which is built only when the ABI supports the comapt 64-bit time_t (defined by the header time64-compat.h, which also enables the creation of the symbol Version for Linux). It means the tests are not built for ABI which already provide default 64-bit time_t. The new rule already adds the required LFS and 64-bit time_t compiler flags. 2021-06-03dlfcn: Cleanups after -ldl is no longer requiredFlorian Weimer1-2/+0
This commit removes the ELF constructor and internal variables from dlfcn/dlfcn.c. The file now serves the same purpose as nptl/libpthread-compat.c, so it is renamed to dlfcn/libdl-compat.c. The use of libdl-shared-only-routines ensures that libdl.a is empty. This commit adjusts the test suite not to use $(libdl). The libdl.so symbolic link is no longer installed. I then removed trailing white space from benchtests/bench-pthread-locks.c and iconvdata/tst-iconv-big5-hkscs-to-2ucs4.c, to work around this diagnostic from Savannah: remote: *** pre-commit check failed ... remote: *** error: lines with trailing whitespace found remote: error: hook declined to update refs/heads/master
2020-12-22addmntent: Remove unbounded alloca usage from getmntent [BZ#27083]Siddhesh Poyarekar1-1/+1
The addmntent function replicates elements of struct mnt on stack using alloca, which is unsafe. Put characters directly into the stream, escaping them as they're being written out. Also add a test to check all escaped characters with addmntent and getmntent.
2020-07-06Add the __libc_single_threaded variableFlorian Weimer1-2/+3
The variable is placed in libc.so, and it can be true only in an outer libc, not libcs loaded via dlmopen or static dlopen. Since thread creation from inner namespaces does not work, pthread_create can update __libc_single_threaded directly. Using __libc_early_init and its initial flag, implementation of this variable is very straightforward. This patch adds the missing compatibility functions and header magic to redirect calls to them when -mlong-double-64 is in use. Tested for powerpc, powerpc64 and powerpc64le.
