In commit c628c2296392ed3bf2cb8d8470668e64fe53389f (elf: Remove ldconfig kernel version check), the layout of auxcache entries changed because the osversion field was removed from struct aux_cache_file_entry. However, AUX_CACHEMAGIC was not changed, so existing files are still used, potentially leading to unintended ldconfig behavior. This commit changes AUX_CACHEMAGIC, so that the file is regenerated. 2024-01-08Remove ia64-linux-gnuAdhemerval Zanella1-3/+0
Linux 6.7 removed ia64 from the official tree [1], following the general principle that a glibc port needs upstream support for the architecture in all the components it depends on (binutils, GCC, and the Linux kernel). Apart from the removal of sysdeps/ia64 and sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/ia64, there are updates to various comments referencing ia64 for which removal of those references seemed appropriate. The configuration is removed from README and build-many-glibcs.py. The CONTRIBUTED-BY, elf/elf.h, manual/contrib.texi (the porting mention), *.po files, config.guess, and longlong.h are not changed. For Linux it allows cleanup some clone2 support on multiple files. The following bug can be closed as WONTFIX: BZ 22634 [2], BZ 14250 [3], BZ 21634 [4], BZ 10163 [5], BZ 16401 [6], and BZ 11585 [7]. The older libc versions are obsolete for over twenty years now. This patch removes the special flags for libc5 and libc4 and assumes that all libraries cached are libc6 compatible and use FLAG_ELF_LIBC6. Checked with a build for all affected architectures. 2021-09-03Remove "Contributed by" linesSiddhesh Poyarekar1-1/+0
We stopped adding "Contributed by" or similar lines in sources in 2012 in favour of git logs and keeping the Contributors section of the glibc manual up to date. Removing these lines makes the license header a bit more consistent across files and also removes the possibility of error in attribution when license blocks or files are copied across since the contributed-by lines don't actually reflect reality in those cases. Move all "Contributed by" and similar lines (Written by, Test by, etc.) into a new file CONTRIBUTED-BY to retain record of these contributions. These contributors are also mentioned in manual/contrib.texi, so we just maintain this additional record as a courtesy to the earlier developers. The following scripts were used to filter a list of files to edit in place and to clean up the CONTRIBUTED-BY file respectively. A coverity run identified a number of resource leaks in cache.c. There are a couple of simple memory leaks where a local allocation is not freed before function return. Then there is a mmap leak and a file descriptor leak where a map is not unmapped in the error case and a file descriptor remains open respectively. Store ISA level in the portion of the unused upper 32 bits of the hwcaps field in cache and the unused pad field in aux cache. ISA level is stored and checked only for shared objects in glibc-hwcaps subdirectories. The shared objects in the default directories aren't checked since there are no fallbacks for these shared objects. Tested on x86-64-v2, x86-64-v3 and x86-64-v4 machines with --disable-hardcoded-path-in-tests and --enable-hardcoded-path-in-tests.

2020-12-04elf: Implement tail merging of strings in ldconfigFlorian Weimer1-38/+38
This simplifies the string table construction in elf/cache.c because there is no more need to keep track of offsets explicitly; the string table implementation does this internally. This change slightly reduces the size of the cache on disk. The file format does not change as a result. 2019-02-22Break some lines before not after operators.Joseph Myers1-3/+3
The GNU Coding Standards specify that line breaks in expressions should go before an operator, not after one. This patch fixes various code to do this. It only changes code that appears to be mostly following GNU style anyway, not files and directories with substantially different formatting. It is not exhaustive even for files using GNU style (for example, changes to sysdeps files are deferred for subsequent cleanups). Some files changed are shared with gnulib, but most are specific to glibc. Changes were made manually, with places to change found by grep (so some cases, e.g. where the operator was followed by a comment at end of line, are particularly liable to have been missed by grep, but I did include cases where the operator was followed by backslash-newline). This patch generally does not attempt to address other coding style issues in the expressions changed (for example, missing spaces before '(', or lack of parentheses to ensure indentation of continuation lines properly reflects operator precedence).
