As reported in bug 23675 and shown up in the recently added tests of
different cases of freopen (relevant part of the test currently
conditioned under #if 0 to avoid a failure resulting from this bug),
freopen wrongly forces the stream to unoriented even when a mode with
,ccs= is specified, though such a mode is supposed to result in a
wide-oriented stream. Move the clearing of _mode to before the actual
reopening occurs, so that the main fopen implementation can leave a
wide-oriented stream in the ,ccs= case.
Tested for x86_64.

As reported in bug 32140, freopen leaks the FILE object when it
returns NULL: there is no valid use of the FILE * pointer (including
passing to freopen again or to fclose) after such an error return, so
the underlying object should be freed. Add code to free it.
Note 1: while I think it's clear from the relevant standards that the
object should be freed and the FILE * can't be used after the call in
this case (the stream is closed, which ends the lifetime of the FILE),
it's entirely possible that some existing code does in fact try to use
the existing FILE * in some way and could be broken by this change.
(Though the most common case for freopen may be stdin / stdout /
stderr, which _IO_deallocate_file explicitly checks for and does not
deallocate.)
Note 2: the deallocation is only done in the _IO_IS_FILEBUF case.
Other kinds of streams bypass all the freopen logic handling closing
the file, meaning a call to _IO_deallocate_file would neither be safe
(the FILE might still be linked into the list of all open FILEs) nor
sufficient (other internal memory allocations associated with the file
would not have been freed). I think the validity of freopen for any
other kind of stream will need clarifying with the Austin Group, but
if it is valid in any such case (where "valid" means "not undefined
behavior so required to close the stream" rather than "required to
successfully associate the stream with the new file in cases where
fopen would work"), more significant changes would be needed to ensure
the stream gets fully closed.
Tested for x86_64.

As reported in bug 32134, freopen does not clear the flags set in
fp->_flags2 by the "e", "m" or "c" mode characters. Clear these so
that they can be set or not as appropriate from the mode string passed
to freopen. The relevant test for "e" in tst-freopen2-main.c is
enabled accordingly; "c" is expected to be covered in a separately
written test (and while tst-freopen2-main.c does include transitions
to and from "m", that's not really a semantic flag intended to result
in behaving in an observably different way).
Tested for x86_64.

I used these shell commands:
../glibc/scripts/update-copyrights $PWD/../gnulib/build-aux/update-copyright
(cd ../glibc && git commit -am"[this commit message]")
and then ignored the output, which consisted lines saying "FOO: warning:

I then removed trailing white space from math/tgmath.h,
support/tst-support-open-dev-null-range.c, and
sysdeps/x86_64/multiarch/strlen-vec.S, to work around the following
obscure pre-commit check failure diagnostics from Savannah. I don't
know why I run into these diagnostics whereas others evidently do not.

The new type struct fd_to_filename makes the allocation of the
backing storage explicit.
Hurd uses /dev/fd, not /proc/self/fd.

As POSIX states [1] a freopen call should first flush the stream as if by a
call fflush. C99 (n1256) and C11 (n1570) only states the function should
first close any file associated with the specific stream. Although current
implementation only follow C specification, current BSD and other libc
implementation (musl) are in sync with POSIX and fflush the stream.
This patch change freopen{64} to fflush the stream before actually reopening
it (or returning if the stream does not support reopen). It also changes the
Linux implementation to avoid a dynamic allocation on 'fd_to_filename'.
Checked on x86_64-linux-gnu.
[BZ #21037]

As described in BZ#21398 (close as dup of 21393) report current
freopen implementation fails when one tries to freopen STDIN_FILENO,
STDOUT_FILENO, or STDERR_FILENO. Although on bug report the
discussion leads to argue if a close followed by a freopen on the
standard file is a valid operation, the underlying issue is not
really the check for dup3 returned value, but rather calling it
if the returned file descriptor is equal as the input one.
So for a quality of implementation this patch avoid calling dup3
for the aforementioned case. It also adds a dup3 error case check
for the two possible failures, with one being Linux only: EINTR and
EBUSY. The EBUSY issue is better explained on this stackoverflow
thread [1], but in a short it is due the internal Linux
implementation which allows a race condition window for dup2 due
the logic dissociation of file descriptor allocation and actual
VFS 'install' operation. For both outliers failures all allocated
memory is freed and a NULL FILE* is returned.
With this patch the example on BZ#21398 is now actually possible
(I used as the testcase for the bug report). Checked on
x86_64-linux-gnu.
[BZ #21393]
* libio/freopen.c (freopen): Avoid dup already opened file descriptor
and add a check for dup3 failure.
* libio/freopen64.c (freopen64): Likewise.
* libio/tst-freopen.c (do_test): Rename to do_test_basic and use

This automatically-generated patch converts 703 function definitions
in glibc from old-style K&R to prototype-style.
This conversion is deliberately simplistic, excluding any tricky cases
as even a patch covering only simple cases is still very large.
Currently excluded are: sysdeps files (to improve test coverage for
the initial patch); files containing assertions (to avoid line number
changes so that generated libraries can be compared); any cases where
the generated function declaration would involve lines over 79
characters and so need to be wrapped; any cases with array parameters
or other cases where parameter declarators don't end with the
parameter name; any other cases that my script didn't parse.
I didn't try to make the ChangeLog generation indicate when function
definitions are conditional; it just lists the functions changed
without regard to that.
Tested for x86_64 and x86 (testsuite, and that installed stripped
shared libraries are unchanged by the patch).
