Linux 6.11 adds the new flag for pwritev2 (commit c34fc6f26ab86d03a2d47446f42b6cd492dfdc56). Checked on x86_64-linux-gnu on 6.11 kernel. Reviewed-by: H.J. Lu <hjl.tools@gmail.com>
2024-04-04misc: Add support for Linux uio.h RWF_NOAPPEND flagStafford Horne1-1/+4
In Linux 6.9 a new flag is added to allow for Per-io operations to disable append mode even if a file was opened with the flag O_APPEND. This is done with the new RWF_NOAPPEND flag. This caused two test failures as these tests expected the flag 0x00000020 to be unused. Adding the flag definition now fixes these tests on Linux 6.9 (v6.9-rc1). FAIL: misc/tst-preadvwritev2 FAIL: misc/tst-preadvwritev64v2 This patch adds the flag, adjusts the test and adds details to documentation. I used these shell commands: ../glibc/scripts/update-copyrights $PWD/../gnulib/build-aux/update-copyright (cd ../glibc && git commit -am"[this commit message]") and then ignored the output, which consisted lines saying "FOO: warning: copyright statement not found" for each of 7061 files FOO. I then removed trailing white space from math/tgmath.h, support/tst-support-open-dev-null-range.c, and sysdeps/x86_64/multiarch/strlen-vec.S, to work around the following obscure pre-commit check failure diagnostics from Savannah. I don't know why I run into these diagnostics whereas others evidently do not. remote: *** 912-#endif remote: *** 913: remote: *** 914- remote: *** error: lines with trailing whitespace found ... remote: *** error: sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/statx_cp.c: trailing lines

2018-09-28Fix misreported errno on preadv2/pwritev2 (BZ#23579)Adhemerval Zanella1-3/+62
The fallback code of Linux wrapper for preadv2/pwritev2 executes regardless of the errno code for preadv2, instead of the case where the syscall is not supported. This fixes it by calling the fallback code iff errno is ENOSYS. The patch also adds tests for both invalid file descriptor and invalid iov_len and vector count. The only discrepancy between preadv2 and fallback code regarding error reporting is when an invalid flags are used. The fallback code bails out earlier with ENOTSUP instead of EINVAL/EBADF when the syscall is used. Checked on x86_64-linux-gnu on a 4.4.0 and 4.15.0 kernel. 2017-07-11posix: Add p{read,write}v2 RWF_NOWAIT flag (BZ#21738)Adhemerval Zanella1-10/+5
Linux 4.12 (b745fafaf70c0a98a2e1e7ac8cb14542889ceb0e) adds a new p{read,write}v2 flag RWF_NOWAIT. This patch adds it for linux uio-ext.h header. Checked on x86_64-linux-gnu (on a 4.10 kernel). [BZ #21738] * manual/llio.texi (RWF_NOWAIT): New item. * misc/tst-preadvwritev2-common.c (do_test_with_invalid_flags): Add RWF_NOWAIT check. * sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/bits/uio-ext.h (RWF_NOWAIT): New flag.
2017-06-21posix: Add invalid flags test for p{write,read}v2Adhemerval Zanella1-0/+48
This patch add an extra test for passing invalid flags and check its expected failure. It shows an invalid LO_HI_LONG macro definition for x86_64 with leads to passing invalid flags on some configurations. The new tests fails on i686-linux-gnu and potentially on other 32 bits architecture that uses the compat syscall definition due a kernel bug. It is intended to be fixed upstream. Checked on x86_64-linux-gnu * misc/tst-preadvwritev2-common.c: New file. * misc/tst-preadvwritev2.c (do_test): Add test for invalid flag. * misc/tst-preadvwritev64v2.c (do_test): Likewise.
